BookFest Ethics Policy
The rules below set out certain guidelines that the BookFest staff and committee must comply with when dealing with sponsorships. Contact us for more information about our visibility plan.
- 1. BookFest reserves the right to decline sponsorship offers from companies whose products or activities have, from its point of view, a negative impact on the well-being of children and teenagers, or that BookFest sees as incompatible with its mission. Applying this guideline excludes for instance any possibility of sponsorships from tobacco or alcoholic beverage companies. Moreover, BookFest will reject sponsorships from businesses that are competitors of the organization's partners.
- 2. Sponsors will be identified on the Partners page of BookFest's website. If the sponsorship is for a special project, it will also be on the pages concerned. The main sponsor's logo will appear on the home page.
- 3. Identification on our site will be restricted the sponsor's name (logo or company name), and will not refer to any specific product.
- 4. Identification and acknowledgements are never included in the content for children and teenagers.
- 5. Companies whose sponsorships have been accepted are authorized to mention it in their promotions to show their support for improving the public's reading and writing habits, and their civic and community values. This does not however apply to promotions, on line or not, that target children and/or teenagers. Furthermore, such companies are not authorized to mention their support for BookFest in advertisements or promotions concerning a specific product or service.
- 6. BookFest retains exclusive control over the content of its programs and of its website.
- 7. BookFest will not support any product or service offered by its sponsors, private or governmental or any other. It can only acknowledge in writing, if requested, the "civic-mindedness" that the sponsor has demonstrated through its support.
